Sukhmani Sahib, which translates to 'Prayer of Peace,' consists of 192 padas or stanzas present in the holy Guru Granth Sahib, the main scripture of Sikhism. These hymns were penned by the 5th Guru Arjan Dev Ji around 1602 in Amritsar.

Meaning of Sukhmani:

The term Sukhmani translates to 'Peace in your mind.' This hymn is popular among Sikhs who recite it frequently at Gurdwaras and at home. It takes about 90 minutes for a full recital, usually done collectively. Sikhs believe that these hymns bring peace to the mind and contribute to global peace. The compilation of these 192 hymns was done by Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
